WHEN I GROW UP

Young kid, seven years old (and 1/2). He said, “Someday I’ll be just like you, dad. From the kicks, to the jeans, to the jacket. I’m gonna be just like you. Look dad, Mom gave me coffee, decaf.” Really it’s mostly half and half. “You got work, I got school, but we can hang out after that. See, I’m gonna be just like you.” “When I grow up I’m gonna know it all like you, and I’ll be tough, so tough, and pray hard like you do. And I’ll love my family just like you when I grow up, when I grow up, when I grow up”. I said all the same things looking back. Now I’ve got his jokes and I take my coffee black. Sometimes I’m jaded, frustrated, and some days I’m just plain mad. I wanna be just like you, too. When I grow up I’ll wake up and watch cartoons, and I’ll have fun, so much fun, and laugh hard like you do.

And I’ll love my family just like you when I grow up, when I grow up, when I grow up. No matter how old I get, I still question this. Am I even half the man you’re calling me to be? And what am I gonna do when I? When I grow up I’m gonna give it all to You no matter what may come I’ll keep chasing after you. And I’ll love your children like you do when I grow up, when I grow up, when I grow up.

BATTLE CRY

I call in the days of trouble. I call upon the name on high to pull me from the rubble and survive the siege, make it out alive. When surrounded by the enemy, and every lie he’s told me I’ve believed my Savior comes and intervenes and calls my name "redeemed". This will be my battle cry: "In my weakness He is strong. Praise to the One who goes before me He has overcome, He has overcome". When it feels like I’m alone here; no one else has been where I am before, You say there’s no temptation that the Man of Sorrows hasn’t bore. Like in the garden of Gethsemane, the angst You felt, You sweat blood for me. Then You died and rose victoriously so I can live as the redeemed. This will be my battle cry: "In my weakness He is strong. Praise to the One who goes before me He has overcome, He has overcome". Emmanuel, Help my unbelief. Emmanuel, God with me. Emmanuel, I cry Holy, You are so Holy. This will be my battle cry: "In my weakness He is strong. Praise to the One who goes before me He has overcome, He has overcome".

FALLING LEFT TO LIVE

Let's stop right now before we hit regret. The words we spoke cannot be unsaid, but we both know better than this. It’s like we think who speaks first loses, hoping the words aren't just excuses (be)cause we both know better than this. We’re not giving in, but we're both in the wrong, and the only way we get out is to forgive. Oh, But the hardest of it all with redemption of the fall is that we still got a little more falling left to live. I try the words but they just won't come out, and ask for help to show some grace now. Just to say I'm sorry and forgive because we both know better than this. We’re not giving in, but we're both in the wrong, and the only way we get out is to forgive. Oh, But the hardest of it all with redemption of the fall is that we still got a little more falling left to live. Oh, there's freedom in the humbling. How I long to be free of this. And I'm giving in, and I'm sorry it took so long, and I'm begging you right now if you will forgive. Because the hardest of it all with redemption of the fall is that we still got a little more falling left to live. Yeah, we still got a little more falling left to live.

MY DELIVERER

Wading in the still water, then I found myself in the wake of darkness. Everything I thought I knew came crashing down in fiery flames. I did my best to count it joy; tested by fire, but with the help of the Lord. Then just on the other side, I feel a heartbeat come to life. Your new mercies shine after the darkest of nights. You're My Deliverer. From the ashes You were breathing dead bones back to life. Redeeming, You were completing the story I couldn’t write. I did my best to count it joy; tested by fire, but with the help of the Lord. Then just on the other side, I feel a heartbeat come to life. Your new mercies shine after the darkest of nights. You're My Deliverer. You are near the broken hearted. You are healer. You are grace. What’s impossible for me to bear falls flat at Your name. Lord, I need You every hour. You are where my help comes from, and I long for the day when I’ll see Your kingdom come. And just on the other side when I see the face of Christ, and I’ve long forgotten of the darkest of nights. I will live to sing this song of My Deliverer. You are near the broken hearted. You are healer. You are grace. What’s impossible for me to bear falls flat at Your name. Lord, I need You every hour. You are where my help comes from, and I long for the day when I’ll see Your kingdom come.

new song

I remember the day all too well. She had a secret that she wouldn't tell. Well the pictures captured all those words of the big reveal of our baby's birth. Those two lines we'd been waiting on sang to me like a thousand songs. For this child, we had prayed, and we were given a new song on that day. His life it played out verse by verse; A sweet melody, but we don't know the words of the new song, that You're writing. When we got the news that took our breath the lines we wrote came to a rest. Then we sang it from the top of our lungs that we’d always cherish this little one. Well he came and went all so soon, but we weren’t alone in that little room. Well you gave us prayers and songs of love, then his last line on this earth was sung. His life it played out verse by verse; A sweet melody, but we don't know the words of the new song, that You're writing. Then she tells me she’s scared to be ok, and move on to another day. And even though we know he’s in a better place we stop when we hear these words. "I just wrote another verse. He sings so sweet and he knows the words. No more tears and no more hurt in the new song, that I’m still writing." Lord, I thank You for this new song.

You Say The Same For Me

Oh, up ahead on that mountain, there was a bleak and dire destiny. Told to take his son and lay him down, He was to make for You an offering. Then You called out "Abraham, I have provided a ram caught in the thicket. Set Isaac free". And You said the same for me, and though there's blood on these hands that nailed You to the tree, I cry worthy is the Lamb whose death and resurrection offer grace to who believe. You say the same for me. From a burning tree a voice called out, but Moses shook with fear and trembling. Called to set free the children of God, he was told to challenge Egypt’s king. But he said “Lord, who am I? I’m just an ordinary man.” God said, “I’ll be with you, trust in Me”. And You said the same for me, and though there's blood on these hands that nailed You to the tree, I cry worthy is the Lamb whose death and resurrection offer grace to who believe. You say the same for me. And just like them I’m standing here in overwhelming need of saving, In search of how to stand the test but through the shadows the dark is fading. A voice cries out a song of freedom and Your salvation saying the same for me. Oh, up ahead on that Mountain, there was a bleak and dire destiny. The Savior of the world laid Himself down. He was crucified among the thieves. Then one said "remember me when You enter in the gates". Jesus said "you’ll be with Me for eternity" And You said the same for me, and though there's blood on these hands that nailed You to the tree, I cry worthy is the Lamb whose death and resurrection offer grace to who believe. You say the same for me! Oh, You say the same for me!
